Monica Lafferty Harper

Attorney Harper has practiced family law since 1978 in Connecticut.

She is experienced in the litigation of high-asset divorces and those that involve the division of family businesses, as well as highly contested custody and visitation matters, including relocation cases.

She enlists the assistance of experts whenever necessary to properly present your case. Such experts include forensic accountants, evaluators, mental health professionals, employment and/or business evaluation experts, actuaries, pension consultants, and the like.

In addition to her litigation practice, she has been in the vanguard of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice, having been originally trained as a mediator in 1983. She has further expanded non-adversarial resolution of family disputes through the Collaborative Divorce process and is an active member of the ADR community in Connecticut.

Attorney Harper is a member of the American, Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations. She serves on several committees within each Association and serves on the Committee for Recommendations for Admission into the Bar for Hartford County. Since 1986, Attorney Harper has volunteered her time to serve as a Special Master for the Hartford, Middletown, New Britain and Tolland Superior Courts, and for the Regional Family Trial Docket, which decides contested custody cases.

Attorney Harper is in private practice with convenient locations in Hartford, Avon and Glastonbury.
